Introduction

Drive Log is built by Last8. We take your privacy seriously. This policy describes how we handle your data when you use Drive Log, our iOS application for tracking driving sessions and vehicle service records.

Information We Collect

Drive Log collects the following information to provide its core functionality:

  • Location data — GPS coordinates during active drive recording only
  • Drive session data — duration, distance, speed, and routes
  • Vehicle service records — fuel fill-ups, maintenance logs, and odometer readings
  • User preferences and settings — your chosen targets, display preferences, and app configuration

How Your Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you choose to enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your private iCloud database via Apple CloudKit. Your data remains in your iCloud account — it is never stored on servers owned or managed by Last8.

Location Data

Location data is used solely to record your driving route during active drive sessions. Background location access is used only while a drive is being actively recorded, so that your route continues to be tracked if you switch apps or lock your screen.

We do not track your location at any other time. When you end a drive, location tracking stops completely.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync, your data is transmitted and stored via Apple CloudKit in your private iCloud database. This data is protected by Apple's security infrastructure and encryption measures. Only you can access your data — Last8 cannot read, access, or retrieve it.

What We Do Not Do

We believe in complete transparency. Here is what we do not do:

  • We do not send your data to any Last8-managed servers
  • We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services
  • We do not serve advertisements of any kind
  • We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way
  • We do not create user profiles or track behavior across apps

Apple Services

Drive Log uses Apple MapKit to display map previews and route visualizations. When loading map tiles, your device may contact Apple's servers. This interaction is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Export & Deletion

You can export all of your data as CSV files at any time from within the app's Settings. If you delete Drive Log from your device, all locally stored data is permanently removed. iCloud data can be managed and deleted through your device's iCloud storage settings.

Children's Privacy

Drive Log does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is designed as a driver training tool and is intended for use by individuals who are of driving age or are learning to drive under supervision.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
